EDEN HAZARD SETS NEW UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RECORD

The 26-year old Belgium International and Chelsea FC midfielder, Eden Hazard, set a new Uefa Champions League record when he scored against Qarabag, the Azerbaijani champions on Wednesday evening.

The attacking midfielder scored from the spot to give The Blues the lead in the 21st minute.

In doing so, Hazard, who is one of those expected to shine at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia,

has become the top Belgian scorer in the history of the most prestigious European competition, breaking the record he previously shared with Dries Mertens and Wesley Sonck.

In his 41 Uefa Champions League appearances, the 26-year-old has scored against five different teams: Schalke 04, Maribor (2), AS Roma (2) and Paris Saint-Germain (2) and Qarabag.

He has provided 11 assists which came in matches against Trabzonspor, Inter Milan, Juventus, Nordsjaelland (2), Schalke (2), Maribor, Porto, Atlético Madrid, and Qarabag.

Hazard has accumulated 3,206 minutes of game time in his 41 Uefa Champions league matches played.
